History
After establishing its first offices in Marbella and Madrid, the Vigo office was later incorporated, thus obtaining an important national presence.
Continuing with its markedly international vocation, Balms Abogados founded Balms Group International (BGI) in 1996, an international network of medium-sized law firms that currently has a presence in 27 countries and more than 40 offices. In 2023 it was renamed BGI LAW.

Our philosophy is based on promoting the continuous training of all our lawyers, specialization and teamwork with a single objective: to achieve the highest level of quality and client satisfaction.
Within BGI LAW’s philosophy, the direct involvement of the partners in the clients’ affairs stands out, actively participating in them, which guarantees the highest level of advice in the matters in which they intervene and a fluid communication with the client. Client communication, trust and the legal quality of our work are a fundamental part of our Firm.
Integral Service
In order to guarantee the best service, at BGI LAW we provide all our clients with a comprehensive advisory service. That is why we also offer tax, accounting and labor advice, as well as processing and administration of documents and companies.
In this way, the client has all the necessary resources available in the same office, which provides an important operational advantage and greater speed and agility in the resolution of matters.
Who we are
BGI LAW (formerly Balms Abogados) was founded in 1989, backed by more than 30 years of experience of its founding partners Juan Luis Balmaseda de Ahumada y Díez and Julio Aguado Arrabé.
At BGI LAW each matter is handled jointly by a partner and a lawyer, adopting decisions in a consensual manner and always seeking the best way to help our clients. The fact that each matter is handled jointly by a lawyer and a partner guarantees our clients the follow-up of the matter.
We have 3 offices in Spain and a total of 20 distributed in different countries around the world, thanks to BGI GLOBAL, with more than 500 professionals.
Organization
Our aim is to provide solutions to the different needs of our customers. To this end, we maintain a relationship of trust with our clients, which allows us to advise them in the most effective way possible.
International Projection
BGI, since its inception, has an international character, based on the absolute conviction of the need to expand borders, broaden knowledge and provide more and better service. Thus BGI International was born.
Teaching activity
BGI LAW professionals, given their extensive experience and high specialization, collaborate with several Business Schools and Universities, teaching classes in various disciplines.
Corporate Social Responsibility
At BGI we are sensitive and careful. This has led to the creation of the BGI Foundation for Children, a non-profit foundation, with which we promote the protection of children’s rights.
